Districts
Districts (formerly district health boards) are responsible for the health of the people living in their district. There are 20 districts in New Zealand.
Territorial Authority
Territorial authorities (TAs) include city councils and district councils. TAs provide services and infrastructure for their local community. There are 67 TAs in New Zealand.

Area units (AU) (density of licensed alcohol outlets)
There are about 2000 area units (AUs) in New Zealand. Area units are about the size of a neighbourhood. Most area units have a population of about 100-4000 people.
